Working Principle

The SAU8050 Coulometric Oxygen Analyzer adopts the coulometric method for oxygen measurement, a widely used high-precision detection technique. When the sample gas enters the sensor, redox reactions occur and trigger electron migration. The electrons are conducted out via electrodes, and the oxygen content can be accurately calculated by measuring the electric charge generated between the two sensor electrodes.

The specially designed cathode material of the sensor can capture and react with ultra-trace oxygen molecules, enabling the analyzer to deliver much higher measurement accuracy than similar products. After cutting off the gas supply, the cathode can completely consume residual oxygen inside the sensor. Equipped with an inherent zero reference, this analyzer can perform zero calibration for itself and other oxygen measuring devices.

Alkaline Sensor Reaction:

Cathode: O₂ + 2H₂O + 4e⁻ → 4OH⁻

Anode: 2Pb + 4OH⁻ → 2PbO + 2H₂O + 4e⁻

Complete Chemical Reaction:

O₂ + 2Pb → 2PbO
